Park La Brea is one of the largest apartment communities in southern California. It has garden type buildings, as well as, 10 + story high rise buildings. In the basement of the high rise buildings, was a combined system of domestic hot water and hydronic heating boilers.
The project was to separate the two systems leaving the three large
Kewanee boilers to supply just hydronic space heating and installing two
new low Nox boilers with two 235 gallon storage tanks for the domestic
hot water system.
By separating the systems the property would then have the ability to
shut down the heating system boilers seven to nine months out of the
year thus saving them a considerable amount of money on their gas bills.
